Do you remember your first camping trip?
I’m talking about the first real camping trip where the entire family hit the road and made it at least a day’s trip away from home.
The scene goes something like…
Mom and Dad pack up the family for one of those long trips across the country.
The station wagon is filled to the brims with clothes, coolers and the old tent that appears to have changed colors since the last time Mom and Dad used it back in their twenties.
You probably fought a little bit with the siblings. There were probably 100 stops along the trip to use the restroom and grab a few snacks.
And then you reached the campground and all was well. The scenery is still fresh in your mind. The smell of the pine trees and the sound of the rippling creek down the trail still seem fresh and new.
There is nothing like spending a few days out in the wilderness. There are great experiences to be had including exploring the surroundings, playing outdoors games with the family and sitting around the campfire telling stories while sipping some iced tea.
The memories of camping are vivid and if you’re considering taking a trip with your family it would be worth your while to consider one of the best places in all of the US: Sheridan, Wyoming.
Camping in Sheridan, Wyoming
Sheridan sits right in the heart of the famous Big Horn Mountains.
The range spreads across the upper part of Wyoming and the lower portion of bordering Montana. The sights along the range are some of the most majestic and scenic in all of the United States.
Each year, families and friends bring their own station wagons to the Sheridan area to enjoy a few days of camping in the heart of the American outdoors. There will be chances to explore the foothills and the areas surrounding the Bighorns.
Hiking, rafting, fishing and much more is available for daily adventures. At night, the camping is right in the middle of the wilderness. You can even tell the kids that there are grizzlies around to scare them into behaving. Nobody wants to meet one of those grizzlies.
Sheridan has a variety off campgrounds and other areas for camping. Some have modest fees and others are even free to those that stay in the area.
