Overview

Backpacking opportunities in the Sheridan area include the many trailheads in the Bighorn National Forest. Most trails are accessible by two-wheel drive and within one or two hours of Sheridan. The Big Horn National Forest offers some of the most scenic wilderness in Wyoming with secluded waterfalls, coniferous forests, prairie clearings, seasonal wildflowers, and wildlife viewing opportunities. Whether out for a camping excursion or a casual day hike, the Sheridan area presents a number of hiking options for any skill level or time allowance.
