A Look Back in Time: April 12, 1917

South Omaha livestock boosters, comprised of the commission men of that city, are expected in Sheridan some time Monday. The group is now on its annual swing through the range cattle states of the west.

A jury decided late yesterday afternoon that Mrs. Ella Long wasn’t entitled to any damages for the death of her husband. Mr. Long was killed a year ago by being jerked to the ground by a horse that was frightened by the whistle of a locomotive at Wakeley. Mrs. Long alleged that her husband’s death was due to negligence on the part of the railroad company in sounding the whistle unnecessarily.
