A Look Back in Time: Feb. 17, 1919

About 40 property owners in the vicinity of where Third street intersects the creek have petitioned the city council for protection from the menace of overflow. They represent that the condition of the creek above and below Third street is dangerous on account of the removal of riprap formerly existing for the protection of the east bank. Oranges are 35 cents a dozen at Swan’s Grocery and Market. Today was the opening day of the second semester of the public school year, and 26 tiny pupils were enrolled. Children entering school for the first time must be enrolled during the first two weeks of each semester. Mr. and Mrs. F.E. Stone of Arvada were in Sheridan this morning.
