Top 10 Best Kitchen Gadgets

There are a few kitchen gadgets that I just can’t imagine living without.  This is a short list of things from my own kitchen that I truly love and the best part is each one is under $10.  After completing the list I realized all of these could be purchased for under $100! If you are looking for a gift for someone who has a kitchen, any one or all of these items would be ideal.

Quite a few products made by OXO are on this list.   They are affordable, so comfortable to use and their products make my life easier and that’s what we are all looking for, right?

 Swivel Peeler

OXO Swivel Peeler  I tell this story often, but it really is impressive!  I received it as gift for my wedding, going on 19 years ago!  I am still using the very same peeler.  It has peeled thousands of potatoes and been through countless dishwasher cycles.  I know that is hard to believe, but it is still sharp and quite indestructible.

Measuring Cups.

OXO Measuring Cups I recently got these measuring cups and was quite excited for the 3/4 cup and 2/3 cup, I’ve never had cups in those sizes before. They stack together nicely to fit in my cabinet drawer.

measuring cup.

OXO Liquid Measuring Cup  I love the angled measurements in this liquid measure, no more bending down to see if I have the correct amount!  I like the Good Grip handle that makes it easy to hang on to, which is helpful to those who are clumsy in the kitchen, yes I mean me.  I like that it is made of rugged, dishwasher safe plastic because I have broke more glass measuring cups than you can shake a stick at.

Silicone Spatula

OXO Good Grips Silicone Spatula The OXO spatula is durable and can go through the dishwasher over and over again and still maintain it’s shape and flexibility.  I wish I had 10 of these.

Spice Grater

OXO Good Grips Spice Grater This is a new one and it’s so handy.  Do you have whole nutmeg?  I ordered mine from an online spice store in bulk and passed it around to my family, but I never had a very good place to store it.  This handy little gadget will store  your nutmeg and it has a removable grater that’s always right where you need it.

Stainless cups.

Stainless Steel Sauce Cups  We are a sauce kind of family, well obviously.  I created my own sauce business!  We eat sauce on everything and these little cups are perfect for serving different sauces or for melted butter on those special occasions that we have shrimp.  They are also pretty handy for prep work.

Flexible Cutting Board

Flexible Cutting Boards These are the handiest little cutting boards.  They are flexible making it easy to chop and then scrape into your bowl or pan.  They pop right in the dishwasher and they are different colors so if you like to keep a separate mat for meats and vegetables they work great.  I have to mention these are well below the $10 mark, in fact I mine are a little worn out and I am going to stick these babies in the cart!

Stainless Steel Strainer.

Joyce Chen Stainless Steel Strainer I picked one of these up the last time I was in the kitchen store.  I’ve seen the tv chefs using them and thought they would be perfect for deep frying.  Sure enough it was the best little tool for scooping out fried wontons, chicken nuggets and those tasty little chicken fried steak bites.  This one goes right through the dishwasher too.

 Stainless Steel Biscuit Cutter.

Stainless Steel Biscuit Cutters With three boys and a hard working husband I make a lot of biscuits.  I learned to make biscuits growing up by watching my Mom and my Grandma.  I think my Grandma’s biscuits were almost famous. I think they were often referred to as cat-head biscuits, meaning they were as big as a cat’s head.  Until recently I always used a drinking glass to cut biscuits and really it worked alright.  Sometimes I would rather have a smaller biscuit that cooks faster.  Hungry boys means hurry up and cook!  I also use these biscuit cutters for shortbread and other roll out cookies and scones.

Stainless steel salt and pepper shakers.

Stainless Steel Salt & Pepper Shakers Last but not least, I love these shakers because you can actually shake the salt and pepper out of them.  Plus, I think these are stylish enough to leave on the cabinet without distracting from your kitchen decor.

I hope you found this to be somewhat helpful, it was sure fun to put together and you can probably tell that my favorite place in the house is the kitchen.

Enjoy!
