Sheridan College 2023-24 Rodeo Season Reaches Halfway Point Heading Into Seasonal Break

The Sheridan College Generals Rodeo Teams finished up their fall season in Lamar, CO this past weekend.

Four Generals made Sunday’s short-go in Saddle Bronc.

Colter Martin, of Beulah, ND was third overall with his first ride of the weekend scoring 73 and his ride on Sunday scoring 78.

He scored 90 points for the team this last weekend.

Joe Priebe, of Independence, IA was sixth overall with his ride in the long-go scoring 77.

Jake Schlattman, of Greybull, WY was seventh overall.

He scored 75 in the long-go.

Chris Nelson, of Lake Andes, SD was ninth overall with his ride in the long-go scoring 73. Priebe,

Schlattman and Nelson did not complete their rides on Sunday for scores.

Priebe made four out of the five short-gos this fall season.

He is currently seventh overall in the Central Rocky Mountain Region and has scored a total of 203.33 points for the team this fall.

Maci DeHann, of Belgrade, MT, made Sunday’s short-go in Barrel Racing with a time of 17.84 seconds in the long-go.

DeHann’s time on Sunday was also 17.84 seconds, which placed her sixth overall.

Goat Tyers Camri Elshere, of Wall, SD and Josie Johnson, of Firth, ID also made the short-go on Sunday. Elshere was ninth overall.

Her time in the long-go was 8.3 seconds and her time in the short-go was 10.5 seconds.

Johnson was sixth overall. Her time in the long-go was 8.3 seconds and her time in the short-go was 8.5 seconds.

Johnson scored 20 points for the team this last weekend.

Currently, the Men’s Team is sitting in ninth place and Women’s Team is sitting in tenth place in the Central Rocky Mountain Region.

Generals Head Coach, Marc Gilkerson, said, “We had a good weekend. A lot of kids stepped up and performed. Many of the kids were just out of making the short-go. The team points don’t reflect the work they put in. We have a lot of potential in this group of young rodeo athletes and through their hard work it will be evident this spring.”

The Team’s rodeos will pick up again in March 2024 for the spring season.
